Accurate Voter Rolls

Effective vote-by-mail requires accurate voter rolls with registrations that are connected to a driver's license record or e-verified social security number. I will ensure that voter rolls are continually updated as we track newly registered voters, pre-registered voters who are turning 18, voters who have passed away, and voters who have moved into, out of, and around the county.

Access to the Ballot

All legal voters deserve access to the ballot. Policies should not arbitrarily make it harder for someone to vote. I will continue to use Utah’s effective vote-by-mail system with drop boxes and in person voting options at multiple voting centers for early voting and on election day.

Safeguarding from Fraud

To ensure that only legitimate votes are counted, incoming ballots will be checked against voter registrations to ensure no one votes more than once. I will continue to use signature matching on every ballot, with cure processes in place to fix innocent mistakes. All ballots will be on paper, providing the backup needed for audits and recounts.

Transparent Processes

The public will continue to have access to our pre-election tests of tabulation equipment, and poll watchers are always welcome at our voting locations and ballot processing center. Large windows and video surveillance cameras means each process is open to public review. I will expand transparency through open houses and web-content so that every citizen can have confidence that every vote is fairly cast and accurately counted.

Constant Improvement

No election system is perfect, but Utah County's is really good. That doesn't mean we rest. I will continue to look for innovative ways to improve the process. I will look for best practices in election administration and ensure that newly passed legislation will be incorporated into our process.
